When Kirk Hammett was 15 when he started to play guitar. The first band he was in was Exodus which he stared. In 1983 he quit Exodus and joined Metallica after Dave Mustaine left. After a while in his career he went to Joe Satriani for professional guitar lessons on musical theory. Still to this day Kirk Hammett is in Metallica and they are very scuccesful. In 2003 Kirk Hammett won the 11th place in Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Guitarists of all time".
