Michael Jordan was, in my opinion, the greatest basketball player that ever lived. He played hundreds of games on his numerous basketball teams. He played basketball his 3rd and 4th year of college, and he played basketball for the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill through a full atheletic scholarship, and led the Tarheels to a championship in 1982. Dean Smith coached him, and he led them to a national championship in 1982. He was also voted Freshman of the Year in 1981. His college career gave him a good head start to dominate in his professional years to come.
NBA Career
Michael Jordan started his professional career on the Chicago Bulls. He left UNC one year early to enter the draft, cleverly seeing that he was at the peak of his game. He entered the NBA and was automatically a celebrity. Averaging 28.2 ppg (points per game), he was elected into the annual All-Star game his first season as a Bull. Jordan was awarded 5 MVP awards during his years of playing, 9 Defensive Player of the Year awards, 14 annual All-Star game appearances, 6 NBA Finals Game MVP awards, and voted American athlete of the 20th century. He was truly the best basketball player that ever lived. He is my hero because I want to be as good as he was in his career, and he inspires me to play basketball.
