Michael Phelps in action.

Accomplishments
Michael Phelps is one of the greatest swimmers in the world. He has completely changed the sport of swimming by doing what everyone thought was impossible. He began swimming when he was 7 years old. But he actually launched his swimming career at Loyola High school. By that time everyone knew that Michael had a talent. Michael Phelps met his coach Bob Bowman when he was swimming on the North Baltimore Aquatics Swim Team. Bob knew that Michael was going to be one of the best swimmers. So he pushed Michael as hard as he could just so he could see Michael succeed. And all of that pushing led Bob Bowman to coaching Michael all through out his swimming career. Michael Phelps swimming career is amazing. Some of the many things he has done is he becam the youngest person to go to the Olympics in 68 years, at the age of 15, he was the youngest world record holder, for 200 fly, and his beggist accomplishments are when he won 6 gold medals at the Athen games in 2004, and in the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he won 8 gold medals beating Mark Spitz record of most gold medals won at a single olympic game.
Family
Michael Fred Phelps was born on June 30, 1985, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Fred and Debbie Phelps. The youngest of three children, Michael and his sisters grew up in the neighborhood of Rodgers Forge. Fred, an all-around athlete, was a state trooper. Debbie was a middle-school principal. When Michael's parents divorced in 1994, the kids went to live with Debbie, and Michael grew very close to his mother.

Michael Phelps is my hero because when people told him he wouldnt ever be anything important in life, he went out and proved them wrong.
