Sir Sean Connery as James Bond (publicity photo for From Russia With Love, the second Bond film, 1963)
Early Life
He was born Thomas Sean Connery on August 25th, 1930, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to a factory worker by the name of Joseph and a maid named Euphima.
He grew up in an average neighborhood in Edinburgh, Scotland. As a boy, he worked dull jobs like 'milkman' with little pay to support his parents, brother, and himself. Despite this, he still needed to quit school at a young age to work. Later, Connery joined the Royal Navy. After three years, he was discharged for medical reasons because of an ulcer in his intestine.
After leaving the Navy, he continued finding various odd jobs, including coffin polisher.

From Bodybuilder to Bond
Sean Connery hardly became a star overnight. He began with very small acting parts, as extras, in a choir, or very minor characters. He enjoyed bodybuilding, and competed in the Mr. Universe pageant in the 1950's. It was 1958 when he got his big break in Another Time, Another Place. Four years later, in 1962, the first Bond film, Dr. No, was released.
